What Basement Cleanouts Actually Take

A basement cleanout is one of those jobs that looks manageable until you're standing in front of it. Boxes stacked to the ceiling, old appliances, furniture that's been down there longer than you can remember. Most people who call us have already tried to start and stopped. The cost of a full cleanout depends on volume, access, and how much sorting needs to happen on the way out. There's no single number that covers every basement. Call (832) 244-5652 and describe what you're working with. We'll give you a straight answer.

Basement cleanouts run the full range depending on how much is down there, whether there are heavy items that need two people to carry out, and whether the stairs are narrow or the access is tight. A smaller basement with a manageable load is a different job than a full walkout crammed with 20 years of accumulation. What drives the price up is weight, volume, and complexity, not the hour it takes to drive there. We do the lifting, the hauling, and the disposal. You don't carry a thing. Every job is different, so contact Ahomeservices for an accurate estimate on yours.

What a Full Cleanout Covers

  1. 01

    Full Furniture and Appliance Removal

Old sofas, broken chest freezers, water heaters, treadmills. We carry out anything that takes two people and a plan. If it's heavy, that's our problem, not yours.

  2. 02

    Box and Bin Sorting

We don't just throw everything in the truck. If you want to keep certain boxes or mark things for donation, we work through it with you before anything leaves.

  3. 03

    Full Haul and Disposal

Everything that goes gets gone. We load the truck and handle disposal. You don't have to arrange a separate dump run or coordinate multiple pickups.

  4. 04

    Post-Removal Sweepout

Once the items are out, we sweep and clear the floor. You get a usable space back, not a room that's half-done.

How It Works

Three Steps From Packed to Clear

We keep it simple so you're not managing logistics on top of everything else.

  1. 01

Call and Describe What's Down There

Tell us what you're working with. Volume, heavy items, stairs, access points. That's how we quote it accurately and show up ready.

  2. 02

We Show Up and Handle the Labor

We do the carrying, the sorting discussion, and the loading. You point to what goes and what stays. That's the extent of your job that day.

  3. 03

    Haul-Out and Done

Everything marked for removal leaves with us. We sweep the floor on the way out. You get your basement back the same day.

What Drives Cost

Why Two Basements Never Quote the Same

Volume is the biggest factor, but it's not the only one. A basement with narrow stairs and no outside access takes longer to clear than one with a walkout door and wide steps. Heavy appliances, especially older chest freezers or cast iron equipment, add time and labor. If there's a lot of small-item sorting to do before anything gets carried out, that adds time too. We don't penalize you for a hard access situation, but we do need to know about it upfront so we're not guessing on the quote. Garage cleanouts follow a similar pricing logic if you've got both spaces to clear at once. Every job is different, so contact Ahomeservices for an accurate estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a basement cleanout typically cost?
It depends on volume, item weight, and how easy the access is. A small basement with light items and a walkout door is a different job than a packed basement with narrow interior stairs and heavy appliances. We don't publish a flat rate because it would be wrong for most jobs. Describe what's down there when you call and we'll give you a real number. Every job is different, so contact Ahomeservices for an accurate estimate.
Do I need to move anything before you arrive for the cleanout?
No. That's the point of hiring a cleanout crew. We do the lifting, carrying, and loading. If there are items you want to keep, just set those aside or point them out when we arrive. Everything else we treat as going unless you tell us otherwise. You don't need to pre-sort or pre-stack anything.
Can you remove old appliances from a basement, including heavy ones?
Yes. Old chest freezers, water heaters, exercise equipment, and similar heavy items are part of what we handle. That said, unusual weight or limited stair access is something we need to know about upfront so we arrive with the right crew and equipment. Tell us what the heavy items are when you call, and we'll plan accordingly.
What happens to everything you haul out of the basement?
We load it and remove it from the property. Disposal is included. We don't leave a pile at the curb for you to deal with later. If specific items are clearly in good condition and you want them set aside for donation pickup, tell us during the job and we'll separate them. Otherwise, everything that leaves goes to disposal.
Can you do a basement cleanout and a garage cleanout on the same day?
In most cases, yes, if the volume is manageable within a single job window. A garage cleanout and a basement cleanout together is a common combination. When you call, give us the rundown on both spaces and we'll tell you if it fits one appointment or needs to be split. Two spaces cleared in one trip is usually more efficient for scheduling.
Does basement access affect how long the cleanout takes?
Significantly. A walkout basement with wide exterior access is fast to clear. Narrow interior stairs with tight turns add time because items have to be angled, broken down, or carried out one piece at a time. We factor access into the quote so there are no surprises on the day. Always mention stair type and door width when you describe the job.
